biogeek web scan #1

When there are so many interesting things to cover and not much time to do so, it’s time for a quick web scan.

beta + English version, feedback most welcome : )

networking : biotwitterers – twitter users interested in biotech and related scientific fields – gather on @biotecher which started twitting last week. It’s really a great way to connect with other biogeeks, plus great collaborative work may emerge soon, starting with a biobarcamp next summer.

biz: are you ready for googlegenetics ? after 23andme.com, google invests in navigenics, an online genetic / personalized medicine company which was recently spotted here.

trends : health 2.0 vs. medicine 2.0, via scienceroll.com

There is a strong connection between web 2.0 and medicine. We refer to this connection as medicine 2.0 or health 2.0. Medicine 2.0 is mostly about medical communication and education, while health 2.0 focuses on the IT innovations of medical practices and the entire healthcare.

sounds good to me, what do you think ?

buzz : zyrtec guerilla marketing campain is THE buzz right now in the (US mostly) pharmablogosphere, while « Mr L. » and French pharmacists struggle on OTC drugs access in France.

semantic search : need a verified health info ? try semantic search engines. Three of them, hakia.com, curehunter.com, go3R.org were recently featured on mashable & readwriteweb.com
